significant area of the firm’s practice involves representation
of clients in the cable television and mulitchannel video programming
industries. The firm provides comprehensive legal services to cable
and other multichannel video programming distribution clients in areas
ranging from strategic planning to compliance with federal, state
and local laws. The firm also serves as counsel and advocate for clients
in both formal and informal agency proceedings and in contested litigation.
The firm represents the interests of cable and multichannel video
programming distribution clients before the Federal Communications
Commission, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Copyright Office, other federal
agencies, state and local franchising authorities, and state and federal
courts. Among the subjects on which the firm provides counsel are
state and local cable franchising (including initial franchising,
renewals and transfers); convergence of cable, telecommunications
and other communications services; contract and corporate issues;
cable transactions (including sales, mergers and acquisitions); legislative
initiatives; TV signal carriage; leased access; political cablecasting
and advertising; programming negotiations and agreements; subscriber
privacy; pole attachments; copyright; federal and local rate regulation;
equal employment opportunity; and FCC licensing and compliance issues.
